Grade: First

Our project was to build a set from the book "Mortal Engines" by Philip Reeve. We had to storyboard a sequence and design the set to fit the action. I chose the museum. We were required to make a scale card model, technical drawings, concept art and storyboards. On this project I used AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, laser cutter, 3D printer and Photoshop.

I designed the museum where a big fight scene occurs at the end of the book. This apocalyptic world has cities riding on wheels chasing smaller cities to salvage their parts. I designed the set to be made up of different museums around London as if they had rebuilt or salvaged their favourite  parts. The book described different levels within the museum so I designed the set to go up through the different levels of the city with exhibits on each level.
